I was watching the Scorpion battle again and really paying attention to just how the gameplay works.

Seeing all the battle mechanics really play out made me start to envision this battle system across many different games.

I have praised this games battle mechanics many times now. But, I feel as though this is really the future and evolution for JRPGS and RPGS alike.

As an advocate for turned based rpgs I have come to realize that this is truly the perfect middle ground for those who love turn based rpgs and those who prefer a more action based rpg.

This literally gives you the option to decide whether you want to play this like a turn based rpg in tactical mode or assign shortcuts and play this as an ARPG.

This is truly something special and a way that I don't think has ever been done before. I can see this being used in the next installments of Final Fantasy games outside of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

I know the first rebuttal would be that Final Fantasy gameplay mechanics tend to change from game to game. We have to remember Final Fantasy 1 to 10-2 was all turn based gameplay with small spins on them. In many ways even Final Fantasy 12 and 13 were turn based due to having an ATB gauge. Final Fantasy XV was truly the only non turn based Final Fantasy game. It is clear Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an Evolution of that.

I can see this being a model for their games going forward. Of course, they will implement different gameplay mechanics or do things to enhance it further. For example FFXVI would not have a materia system in play. It would likely take a more unique approach as we have seen Square do with new entries each time.

However, the gameplay fundamentals would stay the same with something like a tactical mode and implementing short cuts.

If Square is as successful as I think they will be with this new model. I can see other games in the same genre take note of this and taking this system and putting their own spin on it. This has been common place in very well all genres of gaming.

Now, I know that its impossible to appease all the fans but, I believe this is basically the only way to make the majority happy. I am more than content with this system. From the response of the community it seems as though most would agree.

For those who still demand a turn based FF7 Remake. You pretty well have to take it or leave it as that is never going to happen.

We may have seen the end of a true turn based rpg in the final fantasy main line series. But, rest assured that they will still continue to create games that will appeal to those desiring a turn based structure.
