Since the news broke that Final Fantasy 7 Remake would take place entirely in midgar speculation started to arise on just how they would execute the ending of this game.

Surely, they wouldn't end it with fighting the Motor Ball. Some have gone as far as to say that they could have a battle with Sephiroth in some form at the end.

Not only am I going to dismiss the idea of there being a final show down at the end of game with Sephiroth. But, I am going to dismiss the idea that there will be any battle with Sephiroth at all.

First and foremost this game is about Shinra. Midgar has always been about the battle against shinra. Sephiroth was but a branch to extend the story once dealing with the initial problems that were sparked by the conflict between Avalanche and Shinra.

Sephiroth being a battle at all within this game would disregard the original story completely. As we all know the first battle with Jenova is actually outside of the events in midgar. Therefore, it would make absolutely no sense to have a battle with either Jenova or Sephiroth in Chapter 1 of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

We can confirm this with a statement made by Nomura "the main story in FF7 Remake will remain intact but there will be a number of new experiences for players to enjoy."

Granted a new experience could be battles with Sephiroth or Jenova. However, this would change the narrative quite a bit and wouldn't fit well with Nomura's statement.

For me this puts a rest to talks about Sephiroth or Jenova being a battle in anyway. As I said earlier this game is about Shinra and Shinra alone.

Does this mean Motor Ball will be the final boss to end it all? In a way yes. We have to understand the ending of Midgar is more than just a battle with Motor Ball. We have the partys battle with Hundred Gunner and Heli Gunner, Quickly after we have Clouds show down with Rufus then the very epic escape from Shinra HQ finally ending with Motor Ball. Now if this doesn't sound like an Epic end to midgars story I don't know what would be.

I could even see Motor Ball being a 2 part battle. You would have a portion on the bike fighting against it and trying to dodge attacks as it destroys the road around you only to come to a dead end where you fight it on foot.

This would be awesome. Reminding me of other games where you try to escape a collapsing environment.

I truly believe this is not only how it will end but how it should end. Why make drastic changes to the story when you can stay true to the heart of it but display it on a grander scale.

With that said I do believe there will be more scenes with sephiroth and likely scenes with Jenova. As we have seen in the trailers Cloud will have flash backs of Sephiroth and experience the effects of the trauma he has been dealt throughout his life.
