FFT - Reclass+ Challenge Part 15: Limberry Castle Blues
I decided I'd stop speeding up this series' videos 2x after realising YouTube has a speed-up function now, so there seems to be little point. People who want to quickly see what happens can always select the function built into the YouTube player while everybody else can still watch the video at its natural speed to see all the details without hurrying and enjoying the music/sounds and whatnot. Plus we've approached the point in the game where we basically have one fast assassination map after another.
I know I haven't been too enthusiastic about broadcasting at a doubled speed because I would miss a lot of stuff. Seems pretty reasonable (knowing YouTube, any decision you make here will backfire later on, so the speed-up function is sure to disappear at some point but I don't expect this series to generate much if any interest a couple weeks after each individual upload, based on prior experience so the longterm consequences can be disregarded).
edit: actually the 2x speed option is entirely absent when not watching the videos embedded outside the site... That's a bummer. Going to keep thinking if I want them sped up still, and if so how much.

Anyway, this far into the game the assassination maps are all over the place, which means l.i.t.t.l.e.t.i.m.e. to gain JP and turn my party into actually self-sufficient and competent combat units. At least Agrias does not mind learning any skills beyond what she already knows. It's quite a problem for everyone else though, including Ramza who's been around for the entire game for crying out loud.
Limberry Castle [At the Gate of Limberry Castle]
I reclass Ramza to Squire to learn Ultima because otherwise he's out of MP too quickly, and Ultima is dirt cheap, so I could always replace my Summons with the special Guts skillset as Mustadio might never learn Hi-Ether on this run (I'm leaning towards X-Potion right now and not quite sure which one will be decisive if chosen). Giving Ramza protection to Stop means he'll be targeted with Ultima for sure while the second Assassin girl will try to Stop Rafa down south.
Getting any of the two chicks into critical HP ends the battle so having them approach the party is the key to success. Agrias deals the lion's share of the damage necessary while Mustadio can chip in with his gun (positioning is kinda tricky since the target stands so high up). Rafa is stopped so she can't gamble with Truth.
When Agrias lands the finishing blow, two of my units are KO'd, one is stopped and the other petrified. Gotta say this game moves at one fast pace compared to some other tactical RPG titles.
Limberry Castle II (Inside of Limberry Castle)
Didn't expect this to be so easy. Elmdor always warps in (he has Teleport 2 which never fails to land him wherever he pleases) and goes for damage against the biggest possible number of character (afaik with a full party he will always target at least 4 regardless of positioning but maybe I didn't try hard enough to figure out an alternative arrangement of units), after which the Assassin girls will try to pick off anybody still alive with Throw and Ultima spells, latter preferred since we can redirect the spells and even end the battle before they land.
Elmdor has Blade Grasp making him ridiculously evasive, even against gun damage, but we do have plenty of moves that are guaranteed to connect - summons, Agrias's holy sword skills, Rafa's Truth and of course the girls' Ultima spells that can be easily redirected to hit Elmdor for absurd damage.
With Ultima's damage factored in, I actually end up killing one of the girls since I'm waiting for the charged up spells to take out Elmdor anyway.
re: Rafa - killing Mustadio was a lot harder than killing Elmdor in this one, who would've thought.
Limberry Castle III (Underground Cemetery of Limberry Castle)
Zalera is nasty but I've found that if you group a lot of units together he might go for raw damage instead of status (I have only one Defence Ring to ward off sleep but even then he has more status to offer). Here, he goes for status anyway and gets unlucky (only one victim of sleep and I wake them up with gunpowder before they lose their turn anyway).
The Knights take too long to come close to me and the Skeletons from behind deal laughable damage with their "special skills" (seriously, how many useless monster classes did they think of for this game? Just about most of them really).
Malak punches stuff as a Monk for mediocre damage (no Attack UP for him) while Rafa attempts to use the Truth command, failing hard both times (welp).
Agrias is the MVP of this battle, dealing ridiculous damage in counters as well as in midcharge attacks. Even without the Excalibur, she's too good. Seriously rivals Ramza with his equally wallopping earlygame.
