The Long Range materia you can find in the Mythril Mine will come in handy in this fight. You won't be able to use physical attacks on Bottomswell with short range fighters unless they're equipped with it. Magic will probably deal more damage anyway, though, so if you didn't get it you'll be ok. Just make sure you do go back to get it as soon as possible.

He will occasionally trap one of your characters in a bubble, similar to the pyramid Reno trapped you in earlier. There are three differences you should be aware of, though. The first is that the bubble will constantly drain the HP of whoever is trapped in it. The second difference is that you need to use magic to destroy it, and the last is that you have to target the bubble itself, not the character inside it. Bottomswell is weak to wind so you can summon Choco/Mog to deal some decent damage. You can also use Bio to poison him just like you can with most bosses(I don't use it all that much). If you took the time to learn Beta a few castings of that should do the job. Other than that just attack it with your strongest magic and physical attacks if you want.
