Players have the opportunity to fight Fenrir Prime by activating the quest "The Moonlit Path". To access this quest, a player must first collects each Whisper from the six primary avatars and present all of them to Leepe-Hoppe, located on top of the Rhinostery at (J-9) of Windurst Waters (South).

The fight itself is a bit troublesome for a WHM, even at 90. Despite this being a level 75 fight, Fenrir still hits like a truck to a level 90 opponent, even when decked out in fairly significant PDT. What complicates the fight even more is the frequency that Fenrir can TP attack (thus implying to me he either has a high regain rating or a very potent Store TP trait) and the fact that he literally has a dispelga TP move that dispels EVERYTHING except for food.

With that in mind, I felt going /PLD was my best bet at the fight. /PLD gives me the best defensive mitigation that isn't reliant on buffs of any sort as well as made it much more difficult to be interrupted thanks to the Shield Mastery job trait. /NIN may have worked, but I felt with Fenrir's double attack and the inability to constantly keep Haste would work against a shadow tanking strategy. A straight up blood tanking strategy would be more useful given all the shenanigans Fenrir can throw out.

Because of how potent Fenrir's attack is, any physical attack TP move can be quite the threat. Moonlit Charge can blind you Crescent Fang can paralyze you. Eclipse Bite is a threefold attack is the most damaging of the three. Fenrir's utility TP attacks are Lunar Cry, an evasion and accuracy down effect; and Lunar Roar, the massive dispelga. If you aren't relying on buffs, you're pretty much hoping Fenrir does back to back Lunar Roars as they are completely ineffectual against you under this strategy.

Fenrir's Astral Flow, Howling Moon, CAN be stunned. Unfortunately, he caught me while I was casting or I would've suffered a Shield Bash in the face. A combination of WHMs naturally high magic defense down trait, the level correlation, the high HP total of a Galka, and using Sentinel after Fenrir's two hour certainly saved me from certain destruction at that point in time.

Once you are past that phase, just stay focused and keep ahead of the damage curve while maintaining a high level of MP. Remember that as /PLD, you can only single wield and thus one's Mystic Boons are far less effective than when you use the WS while dual wielding. I found using Mystic Boon at around the 300MP kept me nearly topped off for the entire fight.

Enjoy!

Beastmaster extraordinaire, this Tarutaru kicks ass and takes videos and names while doing so. His music selection is superb as well!
