Island Sanctuaries, Sages, Reapers , Anima, the city of Garlemald, finally some new story content, and don't forget...all the bunny people. It's Final Fantasy XIV's new expansion pack Endwalker and it's just around the corner. Everyone is excited and I'm ready to no life it and have some massive gaming sessions. I've got my energy drinks and cookies ready.

So on a more serious note, what is Endwalker? Endwalker is Final Fantasy 14's next expansion pack and as the name suggests this expansion is going to be the finale of the current story that's been ongoing since the original Final Fantasy XIV many years ago, about 10 years ago. Storytelling and characters are really well done and the best part of FF14, even though it's an MMORPG, it's tret and developed as a Final Fantasy game first with a big focus around the story and lot's of traditional Final Fantasy themed stuff from monster designs to call backs like the Gold Saucer amusement park.
FF14's current story starts with the huge primal Bahamut destroying most of the world, he really is enormous. We team up with the badass Scions of the Seventh Dawn to help fix the world, which mostly involves fending off familar Final Fantasy Summons, and fighting the evil Garlean empire.
I'm just really looking forward to having some new story content to play through. I was recently catching up and finishing the currently available story content, and it felt like I was getting to the end of a really good book and didn't want it to end. It reminded me of watching Return of the King at the cinema for first time and I just didn't want it to end too.
Yoshi-P, that's the producer of FF14, he claims Endwalker is the largest expansion yet and the script has a word count 50% larger than the previous expansion pack. Yoshi-P's communication and willingness to listen to feedback from the players has contributed to FF14's success. In one of his recent Live Letter's to the public, we sadly learnt that Endwalker is going to be another game that's been delayed but only by 2 weeks. You can just tell how passionate and upset the dev team were to have to announce the delay. I don't mind the delay, there's lots of games to play at the moment.
But soon, so many of us are going to be taking our first steps on the moon, so I want to talk about Endwalker and what we can expect from this expansion, and some of the new features that interest me.

Aside from that story, one of the big new features I'm looking forward to are Island Sanctuaries and we've finally got a bit more information on how they'll work. So we'll each get our own little empty island which we build up with custom buildings, furniture, you can tend to animals and crops, and also expand the island itself.
This is a sanctuary just for chilling out and doing more relaxing content. It promises no pressure and a much more relaxed environment much like the existing player housing system. One of the most fun things to do in Final Fantasy XIV is just to hang out and socialise. And they double down on that, you'll be able to invite friends to your island aswell as visit theirs, so while it is mainly solo content they've added in that social option, and everyone get's their own Island, you won't have to compete over plots of land like with the current housing system.
It's been confirmed you can let your pets or minions run free in the Island Sanctuary. I think this is a cool little addition that let's you show off your rare minions or entices you to actually collect rare or hard to get minions.
The Island Sanctuary will not a be a new piece of content to check out and complete, it'll become a new component of Final Fantasy XIV, and the Island itself will receive regular updates and more content alongside Endwalker's content patches. The whole system seems like a very light version of Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, or Stardew Valley, it's something MMORPG players are hungry for, I'm very much looking forward to finally getting to check the island out. From interviews the dev team were quite taken back on how positively people have responded to the idea of Island Sanctuaries, so I'm not the only one looking forward to this.
