Today, let's talk about file management.

The last thing we want is to lose files!

I will show you how I manage my reason projects.

When I am working on a new track, I am saving the reason file on a specific folder in my local hard drive which is mapped with google drive.

The reason file is sync when I close the project after the end of each working session. Google drive is keeping an history which is sometime very convenient.

I am using the free tier and you can do the same with other services like Microsoft One Drive or Drobox for example.

When the track is fully finished, I am embedding all the samples in the reason file using the song self-contains settings then I save and optimize the file.

After that, I am creating a new local folder where I can drop all wave and MP3 files for the track including all alternate versions like 60, 30 and 15 Second Music Edits

I will include in the folder the cover art, the music video, and any other assets relative to the track

This folder is stored on my NAS Synology with RAID 5, I have an external hard drive where I have another backup and my NAS is fully backed up in the cloud using IDrive.

As an IT guy, I am taking backups very seriously and at the top of that, I am using the control S shortcut probably 50 times per minutes!
