Final Doom - TNT: Evilution playthrough Part 6 Final
Well. That ended on a really disappointing note.
I'm not sure what caused the glitch, but progression was halted entirely on the last level when I was unable to reach the red skull key. The stairs were up, but they didn't go high enough. So I was stuck, having to either enable a cheat, or enable jumping. Even then, the final boss itself, the way it's done and the way this engine works makes it far, FAR harder to actually hit than it should be. The mouse look means that if I'm off by a little bit, the rocket won't make the full trip down. And, again, the stairs didn't bring me up all the way to the platform properly.
So the final level took some cheating to beat, I am sorry to say. It just would NOT allow me to complete it normally, no matter what I did. And that puts a really sour note to end this megawad, and this look at early expansion packs. Overall, the map pack was a roller coaster ride, lots of ups, lots of downs, but it's still Doom in the end and was a lot of fun. Some of the maps were very well done and fun to play, some just were a frustrating grind. But overall, the aesthetics were great, and there were only a handful of glitches.... more than there SHOULD be in a paid product, but far less than most free wads.
We'll take a look at the other half of Final Doom another time. Next I'm eyeing Quake 1, where we can see a different type of expansion pack. And hopefully one not so long.
Edit: After reporting the glitch to the GZDoom team, it was quickly fixed in the next version, currently out. The final map works flawlessly now. It was just very unfortunate timing that I had a version that didn't work, if you download GZDoom yourself now for this game this level will work as intended. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
