Final Fantasy 4 Midway dash to level 99
https://www.patreon.com/ulillillia --- Yeah, I'm really this bored on my days off. Just going around in circles endlessly, fightin' monsters to level up to the extreme! This video is actually 90 minutes long but it involves a lot of time lapse to bring it down to about 11.3 minutes. The basis is that the first 5 minutes are at 1x time, true time. The next parts are one minute each of 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, and 20x time. The last bit is a half minute each of 30x and 60x time. I keep the sped up audio until the 10x. At the 20x, I switch out the audio for the mountain music to be played at 75% true speed which is very close to 5 half-steps lower in pitch. The strings really sound nice at that speed! It all ends with a look at the final stats.
Yep, this is what I've got going on to pass the time, and this video only covers a mere 2.9% of the goal (assuming experience needed to max out is the same as FF5). So, if 90 minutes is 2.9% of the goal, then basically each hour spent at this is 2%. At 32% done, that means I have 34 more total hours at this. But... as Cecil's agility is about to sky rocket, through spamming Q&R to force the game's RNG to get me a boost of at least 2 on agility each level, I could see some serious potential in speeding this up since the enemies will make fewer attacks due to getting fewer chances at it from Cecil being so fast!
After level 70, the stats grow randomly and can even decrease. There's also the chance that stats can increase by not just 1 point, but even 2, multiple stats at that. To counter this bad design, I get very close to a level up, then save the game to the main file and memo it. If the battle doesn't yield a level up, update the memo save then try again. If I get the level up, then I save to a secondary file and take note of the stats. I use the 6-button salute to reboot the game, load the memo file, then repeat the level up. If I get better stats this time around, I then update the secondary save. If I get no improvement or worse, then I just 6-button salute and retry again. I keep going at that until I'm satisfied with what I get. In my case, I want at least +2 on agility for every level. Why agility? It affects all 3 multipliers and also reduces the amount of attacking that the enemies make, overall speeding things up.
You're probably wondering why the other 3 are all dead. Because experience gets split across all live characters, by having the unwanted ones dead, it focuses all the experience on the one character that lives, and it basically amounts to dealing with enemies that would give around 13K experience with a group of 5 split up, enemies you don't see until like 80% of the way through the game, if not farther in yet. So, by having Cecil as the only live character left, all of the experience gets directed on him, where I need it the most.
