Part 4. So, I originally played this years ago when it released, but I wanted to replay it before jumping into Rebirth. I also wanted to attempt hard mode. It was pretty intimidating at first, especially since I hadn't fully maxed my level or any materia. I had very little idea on what to expect. You have a limited magic pool that only regenerates between chapters and you cannot use items. You big reliance is on non-magical healing like chakra and prayer. That took some getting used to. Some of the early content was pretty tough, especially a couple of side quests when I was still relearning the game. I feel that the hardest boss was the Hell House followed by the bike boss at the end. I did not enjoy those fights one bit. The Chadley fights are tough but not too crazy. I did have a moment of frustration here and there, but with some materia adjustments things seemed much more manageable. I did finally grind and level up materia for those final VR fights, it was the only time I ever felt the need to grind for anything in both of my playthroughs, but having max elemental was huge. By and large I thought hard mode was a ton of fun and a pretty fair and balanced challenge. Enjoy my playthrough.
