Final Fantasy 7 - Walkthrough - Part 8 - Enemy Skills, Kalm, Nibelheim Flashback
00:00 - Before making your way to Kalm to progress the story, ensure you have the Enemy Skill materia equipped. This allows you to learn 24 unique skills used by specific enemies throughout the game. The character equipped with this Materia needs to be hit by, and survive the attack. Then the battle must then be won to permanently learn the skill. Random battle around the Midgar area until you find the Custom Sweeper enemy, and prolong the battle until it uses Matra Magic to learn it on the materia. You can also steal Atomic Scissors, a decent non-long-ranged weapon for Barret.
02:45 - Keep heading right then north until you reach the town of Kalm. Head into the Inn and upstairs to progress the story. Cloud will explain to the team what he knows about Sephiroth and a flashback scene will begin. Speak with Sephiroth in the truck to progress the story.
09:05 - Head into the town where you will get the chance to look around. Head into Cloud and Tifa's houses on the right side of the town. In Tifa's house, head upstairs and enter her room. Click on the wardrobes to find Orthopedic Underwear. Make sure you play on the piano and select 'Yeah, I jammed on it', this will get you an Elemental Materia later on in the game.
15:00 - When you're ready to continue the game, head to the Inn, go upstairs and speak to Sephiroth and select "Yeah, let's get some sleep.". In the morning go outside and proceed to explore Mount
Nibel with Sephiroth and Tifa as the guide. Just follow the set path, the random battles are no trouble for Sephiroth. Head through the caves and eventually, you will reach the reactor follow Sephiroth and close the valve when prompted to continue the story.
27:40 - After this section of the flashback, you will get the chance to save the game and rest or continue on. As the story continues, Cloud will make his way to the Shinra Mansion. Go upstairs,
enter the right part of the mansion and speak with the Shinra soldier. Head to the right and click on the area at the top right of the room to find a secret entrance. Follow it down to the basement and continue on until you find Sephiroth.
30:40 - Head outside to progress the story. Cloud will wake up in the mansion, head down to the basement and speak with Sephiroth again. Follow him outside of the mansion to find horrific scenes. The flashback will continue in the reactor, follow the path until you find Tifa. Catch up to Sephiroth to see the story reach its conclusion.
42:45 - When the story is over, Cloud will follow Barret downstairs, immediately head back upstairs and click on the cabinet left of the stairs five times to pick up a Megalixir. When you try to leave the Inn you will be given the "PHS'", this will allow you to change your party on the World Map and at any Save Points.
43:40 - Leave the Inn and head into the next house on the right. Pick up the Ether which is hidden behind the door under the stairs. Next, go to the house in the middle, head upstairs and click on the cabinet to find another Ether. In the last house, go up the spiral stairs and open the chest to find the Peacemaker (this is a weapon for a character we will meet later on). Go downstairs and head up the other stairs. Click on the cabinet to the left of the girl to pick up a Guard Source.
45:50 - Head back to the main part of the town and enter the single house on the right side and click on the door below the stairs to find another Ether. Back in the main part of the town, the buildings upstairs are the shops. The Materia Store has two new Materia options that don't have yet, Earth and Heal. There is also an Item Shop and a Weapon Shop if you need to stock up.
47:20 - When you're ready to continue the game, head out to the World Map.
