00:00 - From Kalm, keep heading right until you get to the Chocobo Ranch. You will see some Chocobo in the field beside the barn, speak to the first Chocobo and select "Wark" to get our first summon materia of the game - Choco/Mog (This summon has the Wind element and Stop status effect. Choco/Mog has a 15/16 chance to perform the attack DeathBlow!!, and a 1/16 chance to perform Fat-Chocobo.).

01:12 - Head into the house at the left and speak with Choco Bill. He will advise getting a Chocobo to cross the marsh to avoid the Midgar Zolom. You can rest here for 100 Gil.

02:14 - Go next door to the stables to find Choco Billy. Speak with him and buy the Chocobo Lure materia for 2000 Gil. Equip it on one of the party members. When Chocobo Lure materia is equipped you will encounter Chocobo during random battles when you walk on the various Chocobo tracks on the world map. Buy some Mimett Greens and Gysahl Greens which when given to Chocobo in battle will distract them, giving you time to dispatch the other enemies and catch a Chocobo.

04:05 - Now we are going to get all of the enemy skills that we can learn in this area before moving on. First of all, make sure that not all of your teams' levels are divisible by four, then run about the Chocobo Ranch area until you encounter the enemy Mu. They don't use the attack very often, but hang in there and eventually, you will learn L4 Suicide.

07:40 - Next we can learn Chocobuckle. Save the game as we can probably only afford one Mimett Green at the moment, make sure you have one in your inventory. Equip the sense materia and chocobo lure and random battle on the Chocobo tracks. When you get into a battle with a Chocobo, use sense to see what level it is at. If it is at Level 16 then use the Mimett Greens on it and then quickly cast the L4 Suicide skill we just learned. As long as it is Level 16 it will counter with Chocobuckle.

11:15 - Finally, we are going to learn Beta from the Midgar Zolom, yes you heard that correctly! This is going to be really tough but this strategy works. First of all, pick the party member with a high HP and spirit stat. Give them the Carbon Bangle armour and equip the Elemental-Fire combination in the linked slots of that armour. Make sure you also give them the enemy skill materia and sense materia. Equip them with the Talisman accessory. Give another party member Poison materia and the third party member Restore materia. You will also need Tranquilizers so you may need to run back to Kalm to purchase these. You can also buy Hypers to make it easier to get everyone's Limit Breaks. Get every party member a full limit break bar.

17:40 - With this checklist complete, move all party members to the back row, use Tranquilizers to get rid of the Hyper status and use more Tranquilizers to get your party into Sadness status. Save the game, then run into the Midgar Zolom to start the battle.

18:30 - During the battle, have your party member with Poison materia cast Bio until the Midgar Zolom has been poisoned. Have the second character use Sense then defend and the third use Cure on whoever has been attacked in the last turn. Press the equivalent of the 'select' button to bring up the stats window so you can keep checking its HP. Once it has been poisoned, have the team use their Limit Breaks to whittle down its HP. Keep attacking with the character with the Poison materia, and they will likely get knocked out of the battle. Now just defend and cure and let the poison do its work. When its HP drops between 400-1000, attack with the Cure character and it will counter with Beta. Your third character should survive but get ready to use a Hi-Potion on them immediately. Quickly hit back with a Beta of your own, just to make sure.

24:10 - Save the game, heal up and set up your equipment again. Equip Chocobo Lure materia and get in a battle with a Chocobo. Feed it one of the greens then kill the remaining enemies to catch a Chocobo.

26:00 - Now head through the marsh, get off at the other side and head into the Mines. Go right and climb the vines on the left and pick up the Long Range materia. If you meet the Ark Dragon enemy you can learn the Flame Thrower enemy skill from them. Then pick up the Ether and Tent from the stone steps.

29:20 - Go back and head left, run south until you find a chest with a Mind Source. When you encounter the Madouge enemy, make sure you steal the Grand Glove weapon for Tifa. Head to the left to bump into the Turks.

33:40 - Head north and pick up the Elixir and Hi-Potion, head back, then exit left. On the world map, head left and run about in the forest area until you find the Mystery Ninja enemy. If you meet the Formula enemy, you can steal a Boomerang weapon.

38:20 - After the battle, don't open the menu or use the save point. Instead, choose the following dialogue options - "Not Interested", "......petrified", "Wait a second!", "......That's right" and "......Let's hurry on" and Yuffie will join the party.
