Well Square Enix has begun rolling out their pixel remastered versions of their first 6 Final Fantasy games. I know these have gotten some flack for their art style, especially the 16-bit games where people think they shouldn't have "fixed" what wasn't broken. I, for one, don't mind the art style and was more concerned with performance controls as we all know how bad some of the mobile first Square rpgs can be.

I'll say this. Right now I'm more or less pleased with it. They are still using a weirdly regular font which, to me, really clashes with the rest of the art style. Also some of the scrolling looks a little choppy and I noticed some screen tearing with no graphical options to fix it.

That being said, I think the game overall looks great and feels pretty good. I'm already very happy that I can auto-battle my grinding here at the beginning. I think the music I've heard so far is very nice sounding. Dashing, buying weapons and armor, map and minimap, and all the other small quality of life changes are a big positive for me already. I'm really looking forward to exploring this game.

In this first episode I just begin the game. We see the opening short bit of story, I buy equipment and items, and grind a few levels out so in the next episode it's straight to Garland. At least that's the idea.
