Final Fantasy IV [PC] Playthrough #045, NG+: Mysidia: Palom & Porom; Mt Ordeals: Scarmiglione [1]
This is video #045 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV for the PC. This is episode 5 of the second playthrough. I am playing on Hard mode.

Previously, the party crossed Mount Hobs and helped Yang defeat the Mom Bomb. Then, they tried to defend Fabul Castle from Baron's assault, but the enemy made off with Rosa and the Wind Crystal. Now, the party will try to sail to Baron.
Overworld:
The party resumes outside of Fabul Castle. They head back into the castle.
Fabul Castle (time 0:54):
The party reexplores the castle to gather new information from the NPCs. That talk about sailors having incurred the Sea God's wrath does not sound promising. Is sailing really a good idea?
When they are done, the party leaves the castle.
Overworld (time 4:57):
The party's next stop is the docks north of the castle. However, before entering the docks, they make sure to unequip Edward, Rydia, and Yang. Now is the time to give Edward a couple of augments if you want all of his later. The party has given him Auto-Potion and Eye Gouge.
Fabul Docks (time 5:25):
A scene with Yang's wife takes place as the party reaches the Fabul docks. Yang's wife gives the party the Counter augment. This will be going to Kain later. The tank role will eventually be transitioned to him. When they board the ship, it's anchors aweigh. More events take place as the party sails. Unfortunately, they do not escape the wrath of the lord of the sea, Leviathan! This has dire consequences for the ship and its occupants.
Later, Cecil washes up on a distant shore. All alone, the poor guy.
Overworld (time 9:34):
We regain control of Cecil alone on the western coast of the southeastern continent. A few steps to the east, he enters the town of Mysidia.
Mysidia (time 9:45):
Ah, Mysidia. As you might expect, the inhabitants are none too thrilled to see Baron's Dark Knight again. A Black Mage outside the inn will turn him into a toad. The bartender will poison him. The dancer in the pub will even turn him into a pig!
The weaponsmith and armorer in the southwest sell gear that Cecil cannot use yet. However, at the weaponsmith, Cecil picks up a Flame Rod for a future character. At the armorer, he picks up a Wizard's Hat and a Lustrous Shield for later. Fun tip about the Lustrous Shield: it protects against instant death.
The Hall of Prayers is in the north of town. A scene takes place when Cecil approaches the Elder. Listening to Cecil's words, the Elder advises him to go to Mount Ordeals and cleanse himself of darkness. The Elder also assigns two Mysidian mages to spy on, er, help Cecil: Palom the Black Mage and Porom the White Mage. They are pretty awesome. It's too bad that we're unlikely to see their full potential in this version of the game.
Palom and Porom both join at Level 10. Palom starts with a Flame Rod, a Wizard's Hat, Gaia Gear, and a Silver Armlet. He already has the Black Magic spells Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, Sleep, and Poison. Porom starts with a Healing Staff, a Wizard's Hat, Gaia Gear, and a Silver Armlet. She has the White Magic spells Cure, Hold, Slow, Libra, and Sight. They have inherited the augments that they received in the prior playthrough.
Palom sets up a Flame Rod command and Item Lore in his abilities. Porom sets up Cry for auto-battle.
After the scene, most of Mysidia's NPCs have new dialogue. Of course, they are incredulous that someone like Cecil can become a Paladin. Boy, will we ever prove them wrong. However, the dancer in the pub will still turn Cecil into a pig.
The sundries shop in the southeast has Cottages for sale, in case you need any. It also sells Hi-Potions.
The party leaves Mysidia.
Overworld (time 26:07):
The party ventures east to Mount Ordeals. Along the way, the twins gain a few needed levels. The Deathbringer is very useful against the Zus, as they are susceptible to instant death.
After the first battle, Cecil the Dark Knight reaches Level 21. Porom reaches Level 11 and learns the White Magic spell Raise. Palom reaches Level 11 and learns the Black Magic spell Pig.
Next, Porom jumps to Level 13. She learns the White Magic spells Protect and Cura. Palom jumps to Level 13. He learns the Black Magic spells Blizzara and Fira. Quite the prodigy, indeed!
The party checks the Chocobo Forest south of Mount Ordeals.
Chocobo Forest (time 30:59):
The party again meets Namingway/Going-my-way in the east of the Chocobo Forest. He continues his random wanderings after the party talks to him.
The party examines the White Chocobo to recover the twins' MP. Then, they hitch a ride on a Yellow Chocobo.
Overworld (time 31:50):
The party rides a short way northeast to the entrance to Mount Ordeals. After saving, they enter the area.
