Final Fantasy IX PS5 - Part 24 - Return to Lindblum
1Before you leave Alexandria's Castle, you have the option to fight an optional boss that is only available at this time (and in Disc 2, but that's already passed). You can find the boss in the library called Tantarian. Be warned, he is very difficult and though he has some amazing steals (Silver Fork, Demon's Mail), he is a heavy-hitter that can destroy your party without proper equipment. I had tried fighting him several times, but couldn't beat him, unfortunately. Below I've listed a link to help with the fight for those wondering.
After the castle, you'll be back in Lindblum as Regent Cid tries to get you one of his airships. Unfortunately, they've been taken and to unlock the Blue Narciss ship, you'll have to do a quest involving finding three potions to turn Cid back to his original form from an ogolop. They are listed below and where to find them:
I. Beautiful Potion - Alice carries it in the Business District next to the Synthesis and Weapon's Shop.
II. Strange Potion - Michael the artist carries it in his studio. Talk to him and he'll say he doesn't have it, but look around to find it near the stairwell. Located in the Theater District.
III. Unusual Potion - Talk with Marcus and Cinna in the Theater District to receive the third and final potion needed.
After all three are obtained, return to Cid and you'll find another mishap. Thankfully, after several cutscenes, head to the Base Level and ride the Serpent's Gate out towards the dock. Here, you'll finally receive the Blue Narciss to board.
*Note* - Once you receive the ship, you can pretty much do whatever you want or continue the story. There are several things I'll be doing beforehand, so just a heads up as to why I'm not continuing the story right away. Also, now is a great time to level your characters if you haven't done the chance to do so as I will be showing a trick in the upcoming playthrough that will help tremendously on coasting through the rest of the game.
