Final Fantasy NES 100% Comprehensive Walkthrough (#10) - The Ice Cave & the Airship
42In this episode we sell our spoils from the Gurgu Volcano, and purchase some level 6 magic, only to find out that Doc, our white mage, can't yet learn Exit. Then we speak with a townsperson, who lets us know that the Floater stone resides in the Ice Cave to the north. We sail into the northern bay, and disembark on the river, navigating our way through another river maze. Finally, we arrive at the Ice Cave and dive in, finding a few exciting treasures and many dangerous encounters along the way. In the first treasure room we see several chests, with the center one inaccessible due to holes lining the ground. After falling through the floor, we climb back up, and find another hole we fall through to get to the previously inaccessible chest containing the Floater. As we approach the chest, we are attacked by the Floater's guardian, the Eye, who can cast the nasty instant death power word spell XXXX. Skittle makes short work of the beast with his trusty Ice sword, and the treasure is ours. After trudging back out of the dungeon, we head back to town for some much needed rest before setting sail for Elfland to complete our white magic spellbooks. We then speak with the elf near the armor shop, who tells us the airship lies buried in the desert south of Crescent Lake. We immediately sail back to find the desert, where we use the Floater to raise the airship. With the world map now completely open, we fly around the northern continent looking for a destination, when we spot the rustic town of Gaia, completely encircled by a mountain range.
