Final Fantasy NES 100% Comprehensive Walkthrough (#12) - The Bottle, Oxyale, & the Cube
In this episode we head back to Crescent Lake to have our newly anointed White Wizard Doc learn the Exit spell, then travel to Elfland and Coneria to pick up some cure spells and buffs for our Knight, along with some debuffs and the Fast spell for our Ninja. Wanting some revenge on the nasty Mage enemies that TPKed us last time we faced them, we fly back to the Ice Cave to face off once again against the cruelest trapped chest in the game. Emerging victorious this time with our newly promoted team, we collect our reward: a measly piece of cloth. Doc uses his brand new spell to whisk us out of the depths of the Ice Cave, and we climb aboard the airship to fly to the town of Onrac. Speaking with the townspeople to gather information, we learn several things: mermaids living in the Sea Shrine have suffered an unknown fate after the Shrine Sank into the sea, a man named Kope claims to have seen a robot fall from the sky near the waterfall, and a caravan selling a bottle lies in the desert west of town. Intrigued by Kope's story, we head to the river and paddle upstream to explore the cave behind the waterfall. After navigating the winding cavern, we find a treasure room with a robot inside. It gifts us the Cube, something it says can be used to help us access the Floating Castle. While we don't yet know what that is, we do find an exciting new sword for our Ninja, a fun new staff for our Black Wizard, and lots of gil. With the money in tow, find a safe landing spot just south of the desert near Onrac to search for the caravan. We traverse the sands, finally discovering the caravan's secret location, and pony up the money for the poor bottled fairy. We transport her back to Gaia, and humanely release her. Relieved to finally be free of her bottle prison, she draws Oxyale from the bottom of her pool, and gifts it to us in thanks. We then fly back to Onrac, where a woman has constructed a submersible that needs only our Oxyale to be able to reach the Sunken Shrine. Eager to help, we hand it over, while the task of exploring the shrine and discovering the fate of the mermaids looms large over the Light Warriors.
