Growing up, I remember going to the local Sam Goody and seeing this game with other great PSX games in the bargain rack. I passed over this game in preference to FFVII and FFVIII simply because those two were in 3D and the screenshots on the back of the case were more impressive and mysterious. Now as an adult, I have come to appreciate more slow paced strategy oriented games, and have gained a respect for the timeless look of 2D sprites. After recording Syphon Filter 3, I have decided to hit the ground running and start on another long Final Fantasy 2D journey like the 40 or so part recording of FFVI on this channel. There is a certain degree of comfort knowing you are settling in for a relaxing and lengthy classic JRPG quest. As a huge fan of the XCOM games this should be right up my alley. For this series of recordings I have opted to use the line doubler mode on the OSSC to really make the 2D textures pop (I would not recommend for 3D games) . That combined with the GBS Control and mClassic make for a very sharp picture with no noise. Shoutout to another small channel "Bônus Secreto B" for inspiring me to play through this. He uploads very high quality footage of original console gameplay and deserves more views. In the distant future on the last video, I will write a review.P.S. - Noticed something cool about this particular copy, the disc actually comes from a more valuable "Black Label" copy of this game as evidenced by the hollow ESRB pre-1999 "T". If you are wondering how old the particular copy of your old game is, check the ESRB letter. If its solid black, it's post-1999.
