Final Fantasy Tactics Reis’ Dragon’s err Greater Hydra’s Might vs Hashmal (Stopped Armored Allies)
It is surprising how competent Hashmal and Barich (I couldn’t recruit Tiamat by dragon’s charm so I settled for a greater Hydra) can be if you aim for a heavy armor challenge (no thief’s caps nor Excalibur).
Unfortunately, there is no postgame clear save to keep the Ragnarok sword after this battle nor the greater hydra I have here (Nelveska Temple has a regular hydra or random battles elsewhere ch 4). I hope Ivalice Chronicles fixes that.
My dragoon had attack boost with Javelin II though Aegis shield doesn’t block any magic here (jump is too slow without thief’s cap and doublehand would be optimal). Beowulf could cheese with drain (secondary of my dragoon is Mystic for invigoration though I could use an invisibility cloak, which would also undermine the challenge though meteor can hit you).
Hashmal has great speed, faster than Reis and movement rivals a chocobo for hit and run tactics that outranged my high faith equip glacial gun black robe boost (I made an error that it didn’t work as it was bad zodiac compatibility; it is just japa mala and throw fire balls that don’t work) Knight Ramza who easily does 200 damage (Squire has 4 movement and could have moved in range).
Greater hydra has RNG with tri-flame for 3 hits to random panels that ignore faith. Beastmaster from Reis gives tri-thunder though it is nearly impossible to time right for this battle.
It is crazy how Reis has dragon moves that work with hydras though charm (instant join for dragons and hydras) and might (buff speed/phys/magick attack by 2 and bravery by 5) are the only good ones (the healing like chant and quick are bad given Reis is not a character whose turn you’d want to skip given you can also cheese holy breath. I equipped her with a lame axe for this build just to have RNG fun.
