Final Fantasy Tactics WOTL: Wiegraf at Orbonne Monastery Vaults 1st Floor ft Ceiling Jump
I did a self-imposed challenge banning a ton of OP stuff:
1) Advanced jobs like Ninja/Samurai, Arcane Strength, Holy, and Time Mage shenanigans (mystic invigoration vs lucavi too).
2) I wanted to highlight the orator has decent evasion with parry and a main gauche; that was a surprise (white magic and speechcraft didn’t make me need a gun, which Ininvited Gollund chemist to give mythril gun early to Mustadio).
3) I also banned mimic Darlavon as sleeping a group will almost always get someone. Surprisingly, faith manipulation helps and condemn for doom works with Mustadio’s aimed shot (had to use a cool thumbnail given I didn’t jump across the library but went through the ceiling anyway) to have them die idly 3 turns later. A shame stall missed, but it is an auto win if it hits a boss.
4) Equip Polearms thief with adrenaline rush is badass for jump. Ch 3 phases out heavy armor due to power garb and headband, though I may keep Agrias as a knight just to challenge things (Holy Knight does have better evasion and magick atk, but weaker physical attack).
5) My Rend Geomancer has an axe with attack boost for crazy RNG. Whether you do 24 or 240 damage is fun, especially vs charging enemies. Slasher axe may inflict slow as well, and lifefont was nice backup though he got killed before having a turn (Mustadio Machinist is slightly faster and can equip robes, which helps if he uses any magick, similar to equip shield with aegis shield).
6) Phase out the white mage's extra speed and higher magick stats than orator/mystic. I did have arcane defense on my orator (magick equipment makes playable with RNG). Jump +1 actually let my orator jump with red shoes for the magick boost and move +1.
I feel limiting jobs and abilities helps more than single class/solo challenges as you can win by attrition rather than crazy heavy grinding (always helps to get Delita move +1 and unlock black mage at Gariland’s first ch 1 battle). I was surprised how this set of Orbonne battles was easier than my less challenging playthroughs, but then I had Germinas boots to do easy jumping or the Izlude battle, where the summoner is so far away, he will never attack unless you approach him.
The sound novels will be in ivalice chronicles (no black robe icebrand Agrias ch 3 nor behemoths since no Luso battle), though it will probably be easier to watch a video than unlock through errands (similar to ff6 opera house in multiple languages for the pixel remaster, I doubt there will be an instant viewer).
