Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions FF7/FF9 MODDED - PSP/PPSSPP - Revolts! Part 2 (Cheats)
I'm playing the PSP-port/Remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics (PlayStation Portable) which is named "The War of the Lions", but modded so that many of the characters are using different sprites made by fans and based on the characters of mainly Final Fnatasy 7/VII and at least two from Final Fantasy 9/IX.
I am playing for 4 hours, 34 minutes or so. I had only ever tried one or two battles in the past despite first trying out the game on my PSP back in like 2007 or so when it released - but I've never actually bothered to finish the game 100% before. In this video I'll be using money-cheat to give myself the best available equipment, and all kinds of potions because the game was too difficult in a particular battle - I may replay this later.
- The game is a classic turn-based-strategy game from Square-Enix released in 2006 or 2007 for the PSP - it had also been released for the original PlayStation back in the late 1990's but that version had clearly worse graphics to my knowledge - at least I think that the resolution and the sprites have been improved for the PSP.
So as I've never finished this game before (or any of the other classic strategy-games) it might seem odd for me to modify the game. But to be honest with you guys I did always want to have FF7 characters besides Cloud Strife in the game, as I don't care too much about other characters - the characters will still be the original characters story-wise (and many characters have the original models) but the main character Ramza is now named Zack Fair (the main character from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) using his sprite, and the guest characters in the early game are Shinra Soldiers - the Princess who is only seen at the very beginning of the story in this vide has Princess Garnet's (FFIX/9) sprite - besides this everything is still vanilla. I just find it more exciting to play when they look FF7/FF9/FF8 - even though I only found two FF9 character sprites and no FF8 sprites - basically all the FF7 main characters will show up - as will Reno the Turk, Sephiroth, Shinra Soldiers as mentioned earlier.
- So I did read up on the games Wikipedia site about which characters are main characters and guest characters - and which are generic troops. I didn't change any of the monsters or troops in the game, as when I tried replacing all the knights with Shinra Soldiers many of the enemies that used the same sprites as the playable knights, but with different colors glitched out and became grey. Instead I remade the modification twice where I only replaced the guest-characters that the player has in their party temporarily (they're controlled by the AI) and the main characters - not every main character was replaced but all but maybe three or so.
- I did read up on each main character and quest character and replaced the most suitable ones with the most suitable FF7 or FF9 character.
- All the main FF7 heroes and villains will replace the main characters. Beatrix of FFIX/9 will also replace an important character.
- Less important AI-controlled guest-characters will be Shinra-soldiers.
- The enemies are the vanilla sprites as are the other NPC's.
As for the game itself I had never played it before, and I didn't bother to sit through all of the extensive tutorials in this game. This is why I didn't do too well in the beginning when I didn't know about how to add items to a soldier - reducing the characters with potions to one or two.
I used cheats in battles where I cheated to give myself unlimited money allowing me to buy a lot of items and the best available gear - this I did because I lost the battle at the end too many times - even with that it wasn't enough and I had to cheat myself out of that battle by making Zack immortal lol while letting the others fight the battle - after which I did manage to complete a bunch of battles without cheats even though in those battles I had like the best available equipment and lots of items due thanks to using the money cheat earlier.. I still managed to lose a few battles due to not knowing about the abilities and items properly.
Pros:
The game has awesome music, awesome anime-styled cinematics, awesome sprite animations that are very detailed and it has an interesting story. The FF7/FF9 characters might not be different story-wise from the vanilla chars but they at least look more interesting. Square-Enix should make an FF7 Tactics game using these graphics. It also has a lot of modded content that you can download and install using an editor.
Cons:
The game is difficult and has only one difficulty level I believe (I could be wrong). If you don't teach yourself all the gameplay mechanics it will be hard.
PS: Cloud Strife is an important character in the original game, that's why Zack is used as the new main character and not Cloud.
