FINAL FANTASY VI PC 2015 Walkthrought #01 (Modded Graphically - ATMA Weapon and the BraveSteel Mod)
I'm playing Final Fantasy VI (6) for the PC (2015 Release) - here using the ATMA-tool in order to enhance all the sprites/graphics of the game. I've also added the BraveSteel-addon enhancing the graphics further by using handmade sprites for every character in the game, and by using a ReShade which makes the picture darker but higher in quality.
Final Fantasy VI is a Japanese-Role-Playing-Game released for the SNES/Super Nintendo in 1994, later remastered for the PlayStation in 1999, for the GameBoy Advance in 2006 and for the PC in 2015 - and later it had a Pixel Remaster as late as in February 2022.
The 2015 PC-release was a port of a mobile release. It had been criticized for the mobile-esque font and menus. However, the PC-port of the game allowed modders to fix any graphical issues in the game. Unlike the earlier versions on the snes, the GBA or the PS1, and even unlike the Pixel Remaster - the sprites of the 2015 release look like they've been improved compared to the old pixelated sprites. A lot of players do prefer the pixels over the new sprites but I'm one of those people who prefer the new over the old. Thanks to the BraveSteel Mod the new sprites have been replaced with even better sprites that do look like the originals but without the pixels. This is as far as I know the best available graphics for the game as of yet.
The 2015-release for the PC/STEAM of FFVI was removed from Steam after SquareEnix no longer wanted to sell the product - because they want the consumer to buy the new pixel remaster of the game instead. The new Pixel Remaster has improvements in many areas but in my opinion looks worse in terms of character sprites. The 2015-release can be downloaded from the internet, and I do suggest downloading it after buying the Pixel Remaster - I did buy the later but wanted to play this older version with the better graphics. The Pixel Remaster has improved on certain areas in the game though.
I have never played FF6 before in the past as a kid, even though I did own the game on the PlayStation 1 and did play a little bit of it in the early 2000's on my PS2 - back when I were hugely into FF7/FF8 & FF9 and also bought the FF Origins (FF1+.2) & the Final fantasy VI Anthology for that same system. I didn't like the old graphics so I never played much of the 1st, 2nd or 6th title.
I have played this part played in this episode three times prior to this video - and recorded it twice using the GBA-release, and the Divergent Paths-hack of the Super Nintendo/SNES-release. I did speak during both of those videos.
In this video I am not speaking so it's a walkthought - not a let's play.
Unlike in the other two videos I stumbled upon a character and managed to trigger the continuation of the story. So this episode has more story than the other two videos - but doesn't have my voice.
For some reason the PC-ports didn't include the PlayStation Cinematics that I thought were awesome in 2001 - I were just disappointed that the entire game didn't look like FF8 or something - the intro there is similar to FF7 and FF8 in style.
I am playing up until I reach South Figaro.
