XENA: Talisman of Fate - 1 Player Quest-mode - Xena and Callisto - Despair - (N64/Project64 1.6)
In this video I am playing the Single Player "Quest-Mode" of the game on "Easy" difficulty as Xena and Callisto using a real N64 controller that is connected to my computer, unfortunately two of the C-buttons were wrongly configured in this video so I was totally unable to do any special moves. I do unlock the boss Despair in this video - after which I will also watch the CPU fight the CPU against this boss in a few varied fights. The analog stick of the N64 controller doesn't work 100% as the characters only walk slowly to the left, while being faster to the right - this is also the cause of why in Super Smash Bros. for the N64 a character will sprint to the right but walk slowly to the left - it's really annoying but I can't seem to fix the issue sadly.
I'd say that without the special moves Callisto was still kinda fun to use.
So when I used the RetroArch Emulator the graphics weren't as great as on the Project64 Emulator Version 2.4, but unlike on the former the sound didn't stutter at all - it did however lag a lot on the Joxer-stage and when trying to play 4 VS 4 ROSTER battles.
When using the Project64 Emulator Version 2.4 the graphics were the best they can be but the sound would stutter all the time. In order to solve this issue with the sound I decided to uninstall the emulator and download an earlier version of it - namely version 1.6.
Version 1.6 of the Project64 Emulator did work fine with the game on maximum settings without the audio/sound stuttering. The graphics are still the best possible. So unlike version 2.4 the 1.6 had more options in the graphics-settings - you can pick many different resolution options with the hz-levels being different for each option. In order to solve the stuttering with the sound a 60hz 1920/1080p resolution had to be picked. With version 2.4 the 60hz option was outside of the area where you pick the resolution, while in 1.6 they were in the same area - so using 60hz didn't work on 2.4 but worked fine using 1.6.
I did manage to fix the issue with Bandicam using the version 1.6 of the Project 64 Emulator - I can now record long videos of N64 games using this emulator again.
So 1.6 is the better option when playing Xena: Talisman of Fate - but it's more difficult to record in the game using it.
I do own the N64 game that I managed to get a hold of like two years ago or so when someone sold a copy of it. It's a game that I remember really wanting in the store back in 1999 when I saw it but I never ended up buying it back then due to being dependent on my parents.
I used to love the TV-show even though I haven't seen all the seasons or episodes - only like 3-4 seasons out of five - and I did skip the filler episodes. The show has a lot of independent episodes that have no bearing to the overall story. I usually skipped all such episodes except the ones that had interesting characters like Joxer, Callisto and Aphrodite.
