Turns out my wife has been playing FF7 Remake (the physical PS4 version) on our PS5 for 30 hours before she realized the PS5 version is a FREE upgrade!

So here's the PS5 version! She was able to move her save file over from the PS4 version and Aerith's house here is a nice looking area for sure. Oh yeah, and of course I had to check out that CRT TV in the corner. You always have to check out a nice CRT TV in a video game. See how nice the reflections look off that glass tube! LOL okay there's a fair difference here but first I have to say the PS4 version running on a PS5 already seemed to run smoother with way less popup (NPC's popping in only several feet in front of your character!) but that said there are a lot of graphical improvements here. There's now a 60FPS performance mode or you can choose a native 4K 30FPS mode. There's better textures and they did improve the lighting too it seems. I seem to remember hearing the GI or Global Illumination has been improved and some Screen Space Reflections (SSR) have also been improved.

Overall seems like they improved enough to make it worth the... oh wait yeah it's free and I believe it was always free from the start right? So I guess just a reminder if you own FF7 Remake for PS4 you can get the PS5 version for FREE! Don't forget! I mean considering it's free and you can transfer your save game I'm surprised it even bothers letting you install and run the PS4 version. You'd think it'd just be like nope and force you to install the PS5 version. Not only does it look better but the PS5 version actually takes up LESS storage space than the PS4 version does on the PS5! I think it's something like 81GB for the PS5 version vs 86GB for the PS4 version. Crazy right? Probably that PS5 Kraken compression at work. I think that it can simply access the files it needs, even when compressed faster than the PS4 ever could have so they can store more compressed assets on the SSD.

Anyway, it was nice to make it a free upgrade considering I had to pay $10 for the GT7 PS4 to PS5 upgrade and honestly they didn't really change any more in that than they did in this.
