This video shows the Jailer of Fortitude and the Dark Knight version of Ix'aern.

It is part of my journey to spawn and kill Absolute Virtue. While AV is not the hardest superboss in FFXI anymore, I wanted to experience it. To spawn AV, there are 10 other bosses that needed to be killed. These can be thought of in three paths: (A) Prudence, (B) Hope, and (C) Justice. In order to spawn each of these, two monsters must be killed, and their drops (along with one HQ organ of appropriate monster) must be traded at specific ???. The best visualization of how this works (in my opinion) is found here: http://wiki.homepointxi.com/Category:...

For all of these kills, I am a Lv99 Summoner (sub-job White Mage). I am in Talih ilevel 119 gear from Ambuscade and using the Gridarvor. I'm also using max trust: tank/ healer/ dps/ dps or support Trust.

In order to spawn the Ix’aern (DRK), someone needs Sheer Animosity and to touch the ??? at F-8, J-8, F-10, orJ-10 in the Garden of Ru'Hmet. Sheer Animosity is a stat gained by killing the Aern in those four rooms, but the state is gained randomly. I received on the second cycle of the rooms in the second room that I cleared.

The Jailer of Fortitude is spawned at H-4, C-8, L-8, J-13, or F-13 (the bottom floor of the species towers). You trade 12 Ghrah M Chips to the ???, and it pops. I hope that you're ready for RNG shenanigans. The spawn location is random. The spawn location moves every 15-30 minutes. But, before you can even spawn this thing, you need to farm 12 Ghrah M Chips. They are not purchasable; they are not tradable. Their drop rate is non-existent. I despawned every enemy that can drop these items on the floor with another player working in tandem on the opposite side. This meant that we could clear the entire floor of all enemies that potentially drop this thing in 15 minute cycle. There was limited waiting for respawn (maybe 1-2 minutes) at the end of cycling. It took 3 hours to get 12, and I started with having already gotten 5, so 7 in about 180 minutes. That's abysmal.

Once you have the items, track down the ??? and spawn this bastard. Never again.
