Previously, after getting the Crescent Stone from Old Dalan, Vaan took a new entrance to the Garamsythe Waterway. He found the entrance to the Royal Palace of Rabanastre's cellars. Now, he will explore the palace in search of the treasury.

Vaan resumes in the Royal Palace's Cellar Stores. As a reminder, if you are playing the original PS2 release, you will want to avoid the treasure coffers if you want the Zodiac Spear. This is not that version, so Vaan will be opening every treasure coffer he sees. The Royal Palace is a one-time area.

Vaan takes the door to the Cellars (time 0:27). There are a few NPCs and treasure coffers to find here.

A brief scene takes place when Vaan approaches the northern part of the room (time 2:47). It sounds like these servants will be responsible for cleaning up after the fete.

Vaan approaches the guard in the northwest (time 3:49). Unfortunately, the guard won't let him past. However, a Palace Servant takes notice.

Vaan talks to the Palace Servant (time 4:03). The servant suggests that Vaan call the guard over by pressing the Y button (on the Switch). Then, while the servant distracts the guard, Vaan can sneak past to the stairway.

Vaan calls the guard over (time 4:21). As the guard approaches the servant, Vaan sneaks around and climbs the stairway.

Vaan takes the door (time 4:37). A brief scene takes place as he enters the Lower Halls zone. Vaan reflects on Old Dalan's instructions.

The Lower Halls follow a grid layout. There are guards posted at several intersections. Directly east of where Vaan starts, there is a Hawk Signet on the floor. This is not the correct signet.

There are, however, a couple of guards east of the Hawk Signet (time 5:50). Vaan shouts to lure them to the intersection west of the Hawk Signet.

The Lion Signet is north of the Hawk Signet (time 6:22). Vaan uses the Crescent Stone on it. It lights up the hidden way. To get to the hidden way, Vaan must move the guards around.

At the southern end of the eastern corridor, Vaan finds a coffer with an Orrachea Armlet (time 7:09).

In the western corridor, Vaan lures the guards west of the Hawk Signet to the southwest corner (time 7:31).

Then, he lures the guards west of the Lion Signet south to the intersection west of the Hawk Signet (time 7:53). This lets him reach the northwest.

There are is another guard at the intersection to the north (time 8:22). Vaan lures him south to the intersection west of the Hawk Signet.

This lets him access the northwest of the floor.

Vaan examines the Faint Light (time 8:50). He chooses to approach the wall. A doorway slides open for him. The false wall shuts behind him.

We gain control of Vaan in the Secret Passage (time 9:23).

To the west, he trips a Switch in the southern wall at the corner (time 9:51).

Then, he examines the nearby Suspicious-looking Wall (time 10:06). It opens to let him through.

A scene takes place in the treasury (time 10:21). As Vaan finds something of interest, he learns that he is not the only one that decided to visit the treasury tonight. When there is a commotion, he makes himself scarce. Vaan obtains the Goddess's Magicite.

A brief scene takes place in the next corridor (time 11:55).

We gain control of Vaan in the Garden Stairs zone (time 12:07). The only way out is up.

A scene takes place when Vaan nears the top of the southern stairs (time 12:54). When he bursts outside, a cinematic cutscene takes place. The Royal Palace appears to have other visitors this evening. The escape does not go as planned.

The next scene takes place in the Garamsythe Waterway (time 14:58). Vaan has little choice but to team up with his new acquaintances: Balthier and Fran. Balthier and Fran join the party.

We gain control of the new party in the East Spur Stairs (time 16:09). Balthier and Fran both join at Level 7, a level higher than Vaan. Balthier has an Altair gun, Onion Shot ammo, Headgear, and Chromed Leathers. Fran has a Shortbow, Onion Arrows, Headgear, and Chromed Leathers.
