Previously, Vaan defeated the Rogue Tomato in the Dalmasca Estersand. When he returned to Rabanastre, Vayne arrived as the new Consul to Dalmasca. Vaan has decided to talk to Old Dalan in Lowtown. Also, when Vaan turned in the Rogue Tomato hunt, Tomaj advised him to find a certain Bangaa guarding a building in the North End.

Vaan resumes at the Eastgate in Rabanastre. He goes back to the Southern Plaza and chats with the NPCs.

Northwest of the fountain, Vaan finds a Moogle with the Cartographers' Guild (time 2:48). Cartographers' Guild Moogles sell location maps of the game's areas. Vaan picks up the Dalmasca Estersand map for 50 gil and the Giza Plains map for 30 gil. He does not yet have 550 gil for the Dalmasca Westersand map.

In the East End, Vaan pays 1 gil for some more information from the Rabanastran boy in the middle of the zone (time 4:44).

Vaan heads to North End (time 5:26). He explores this zone. In the process, he checks out Yamoora's Gambits, even though he cannot buy or use Gambits yet. Such a pity.

Vaan talks to the Conspicuous Bangaa by the western door (time 8:40). When Vaan says, "Okay, let me in," the Bangaa admits him to the Clan Hall. After the introductory scene, Vaan chats with the folks in the Clan Hall.

Vaan eventually talks to Montblanc the Moogle (time 10:55). Montblanc admits Vaan to Clan Centurio. Montblanc will tell Vaan about elite hunts that are not shown on notice boards. Montblanc will issue rewards for various feats, such as defeating bosses. Vaan can now shop at the clan shop in the Muthru Bazaar. Also, in the Switch and Xbox One releases, Montblanc can reset a character's license board. Very handy!

Vaan talks to Montblanc again (time 11:40). For joining Clan Centurio, Montblanc rewards Vaan with 3 Potions. There are no elite marks available right now. Vaan shows off getting his license board reset. Fortunately, this refunds all his spent LP. Afterwards, Vaan gets his Shikari license board set up again.

Vaan leaves the Clan Hall (time 13:18). He finishes exploring the North End.

Next, Vaan exits southwest to the Muthru Bazaar (time 14:42).

He visits the Clan Provisioner (time 16:46). Vaan's current clan rank determines what he can buy. At the lowest clan rank, Moppet, he can only buy the Decoy Green Magick spell, which costs 2,000 gil. Even so, Decoy is useful. Enemies will focus their physical attacks on party members who have Decoy in effect.

Vaan heads east to the East End (time 18:30).

He takes the stairway to Lowtown (time 19:18). He arrives in the northern zone, the North Sprawl. There are a few random treasure coffers in the area.

In the northwest, Vaan finds the door to Storehouse No. 5 (time 25:53). Kytes will unlock the door for him if asked. Vaan is free to take the right-hand door to the Overflow Cloaca in the Garamsythe Waterway. The left-hand door is tightly shut.

After chatting around, Vaan heads to the Southern Sprawl (time 30:02).

If you are playing the original Playstation 2 version of this game, there are several treasure coffers that you want to avoid if you want to find the Zodiac Spear in the Necrohol of Nabudis. One of the treasures to avoid is near the door to Old Dalan's Place. For good measure, you may want to avoid all the coffers in Lowtown.

A scene takes place when Vaan enters Old Dalan's Place (time 35:28). To get into the palace, Vaan must first go to the Nomad Village in Giza Plains and acquire a Sunstone. The Nomad Village is directly south of Rabanastre.

We regain control of Vaan after the scene (time 37:47).

Vaan leaves Dalan's House (time 38:16).

He takes the door to Southgate in Rabanastre (time 38:37).

In Southgate, Vaan examines the orange Rabanastre Crystal (time 40:11). This is a special type of save crystal called a gate crystal. Vaan can use a gate crystal to teleport to any other gate crystal he has touched, provided he has Teleport Stones in inventory. For this reason, he should touch every gate crystal he comes across.

Next time, Vaan will head south to Giza Plains in search of the Nomad Village.
