Apologies for the delay - had some capture card issues. This is a playthrough on normal Difficulty of Final Fight 23. I had to edit together two different runs. On my first run Rolento ate through my continues. On the second run I got through him ok but the early capture was corrupted. So I've stitched the two runs together.

This is Final Fight 2 - a SNES/Super Famicom exclusive sequel. It addresses a lot of the short falls of the first game - namely it has 3 playable characters - this time Mike Haggar is back (and sporting a new look) and Cody & Guy are nowhere to be seen. Instead replaced with sword wielding Carlos & female ninja Maki. They play a lot like Cody & Guy to be fair.

The other big addition is simultaneous 2 player action - which the first game lacked (mainly due to being an early tile I suspect). it runs a little smoother too - possibly due to more experience with the hardware but also being designed for console rather than ported from an arcade machine.

Then there are the little things like the transition animations between stages etc that were missing from the port of the first game.

It plays well with fairly responsive controls & similar large colourful sprites to its prequel.

it is a slight mixed bag though. Some levels are a little flat & backgrounds in particular are a mixed assortment. Some have lovely details such as Chun Li eating noodles & what appears to be Guile in Level 2. However these vary even within the same levels. The bobbing ship is a lovely detail but the water is a static picture. In Italy the water is flat & static in one part of the level but transparent & animated/wavy in another part of the level. So it is a little inconsistent.

It also lacks the sense of place & cohesion that Metro City provided in the first game. Still a great fun beat-em-up though.

This is my original cart that I actually got in a bundle of Japanese games from Future Zone (I think before it became Electronics Boutique) way back in the day. First time I've played it in an age but the memories came flooding back! Sometimes when they had stuff traded in they would have convertors & import games so they would put together a bundle for much cheaper as ironically no one wanted NTSC games back then. I got a bundle of US versions of SNK fighters & a convertor in one bargain bundle & this & a bunch of Japanese carts in another. Good times!

Check my other Final Fight videos. I've be covering more of the games soon too :-)

I'm also sorting my loft and finding all sorts of obscurities, oddities and nice games from my collection so I'll be doing some random vids. Let me know if there is a console or game you'd like to see. Let me know if there are any games or consoles you'd like videos about. Let me know if you like the format (i.e. no voiceover and the addition of short facts). Want End Cards added to point out other similar videos? I'm just trying things really.

As always the game cart is played on original hardware - no emulation etc This is played on my Super Nintendo. Captured through a Retrotink 5x purely for ease of capture.

As always if you enjoy this video let me know.

As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.
