e early capture was corrupted. So I've stitched the two runs together.

This is Captain Commando on SNES/Super Famicom. After the success of Final Fight in 1989 Capcom released a slew of top quality beat-em-ups in the arcades including Captain Commando in 1991. This has a loose connection with Final Fight as the early levels are set in Metro City in the year 2026 (when that seemed so far in the future.....) & in level 1 during the fight with the stage boss you can pick up a bust of Mike Haggar for an extra life.

It features Captain Commando - a kind of spokesman character for Capcom at the time as well as his squad of 3 other commando's = Baby, Mummy & Ninja. They also show up in the Marvel vs Capcom games & Captain Commando can be seen in ken's stage background in Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 2.

The game has 4 playable characters & in the arcade was 4 player but the SNES port inevitably trims this down to 2 & has a few other obvious compromises such as smaller sprites & less enemies on screen. It also loses the enemy mech's that you can commandeer (think the dragon's in Golden Axe) but overall is a really solid & playable port.

It has 9 stages & I play through the first few stages here. Not as memorable as final Fight but a fun time nonetheless. It also received a PlayStation port & is on various compilations including the Capcom Beat-Em-Up Collection on modern platforms such as Switch. I may do a video on this collection at some point as I have most the home ports of the time such as Knights of the Round & King of Dragons etc

This is my original cart from late in the SNES era that I picked up when it was traded in at a shop I was working at back in the day.

I'm also sorting my loft and finding all sorts of obscurities, oddities and nice games from my collection so I'll be doing some random vids. Let me know if there is a console or game you'd like to see. Let me know if there are any games or consoles you'd like videos about. Let me know if you like the format (i.e. no voiceover and the addition of short facts). Want End Cards added to point out other similar videos? I'm just trying things really.

As always the game cart is played on original hardware - no emulation etc This is played on my Super Nintendo. Captured through a Retrotink 5x purely for ease of capture.

As always if you enjoy this video let me know.

As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.
