There has been word about the Death Knight sighted near the Monastery, and while Caspar is determined to take on the Death Knight, as for Mercedes, there is something on her mind. She believes that her brother and the Death Knight are the same person, so they enter the forest near the Monastery to fight the Death Knight and the Imperial troops.

This paralogue took many attempts to get a successful attempt, because in one of them, if you defeat every enemy except for the Death Knight, that completes the paralogue, and there is a secret reward that you can get if Caspar deals the finishing blow on the Death Knight.
This is the same map from the Sealed Forest, the same place where Kronya and Solon were fought, but anyway, the Death Knight is at the northern side of the map, where Caspar and Mercedes are placed, there are some Demonic Beasts and Giant Wolf on this map as well.
The Death Knight is once again a dangerous opponent, and if you didn't even level up Caspar to around Level 20 or higher, the secret reward will be harder to obtain, so if you have Caspar promoted to Warrior, which has Axe Crit +10 built into the class, and if Caspar is equipped with a Killer Axe, hope to luck that you are able to take out the Death Knight in one hit, provided that use the Smash Combat Art, or you could take down the Demonic Beast and some enemies while waiting for your other units to arrive at the spot they are at.
There is a chest containing an Umbral Steel, and the Death Knight has a bunch of items you can obtain, he will drop a Dark Seal when defeated, and you can steal an Elixir and an Accuracy Ring from him if you have a unit that has mastered the Thief class and has Steal for the ability.
Reinforcements will appear on Turn 10, there will be a bunch of Imperial Soldiers, which contain a Dark Knight, Hero, and Sniper, two of each, or three on Maddening difficulty.
The Death Knight has some dangerous weapons, his Scythe of Sariel is his signature weapon, Murderous Intent is his ability which boosts hit rate by 20, and his Counterattack allows him to counter moves no matter the range, his Charm stat is a bit low, so his Gambit won't be that great, they are called Reaper Knights and they can use Assault Troop.
Defeating the Death Knight does not complete the paralogue, what you really have to do is to defeat every Imperial Troops on this map, the Death Knight is optional, but you do need to beat him with Caspar to get the secret reward.
For completing this paralogue, you will earn two Battalions, Church Soldiers, which is a Battalion for Mercedes which boosts Resistance, Hit, and Charm, and a low boost to Magic. The Gambit is Resonant White Magic, which restores HP to allies in its area of effect, but it's not really necessary, as she already has Fortify, which has a good enough range anyway.
The other Battalion is Bergliez War Group, this Battalion is for Caspar and provides boosts to Strength and Charm, and decent boosts to Hit and Defense, and a decrease in Avoid, the Gambit is Onslaught, this is already available on a lot of Battalions, and it requires a B Rank in Authority, which isn't that easy if Caspar has a weakness in Authority.
You get a Hero's Relic for completing this battalion, it's not a weapon, it is called Rafail Gem, it is tied to the Crest of Lamine, which Mercedes has, and it negates any bonus damage or critical hits if unit is equipped with it, and if Mercedes is equipped with it, as she has the Crest of Lamine, it provides both Pavise and Aegis.
If you have Caspar deal the final blow on the Death Knight, you get his Scythe of Sariel at the end of the paralogue, this is a very powerful weapon that has a high crit rate, but it requires an A Rank in Lance to wield it, Dimitri should be able to use it without too many problems, and if his crit rate wasn't already high enough, the Scythe of Sariel will boost it even higher.
