The Imperial army make it to Fort Merceus, which has been captured by Duke Aegir with the help of some mysterious mages, which are said to be part of Those Who Slither in the Dark. We come across a familiar opponent during our attack on Fort Merceus, and with Ferdinand wanting to put an end to his father for all the crimes he has caused.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Time for the Chapter 13 battle, and despite Ferdinand saying that he wants to stand up against his father, he is not a forced deploy, but however, one of your units for this battle is an NPC ally and will not become playable until later in the battle, as that unit will be separated from the rest of your team, I highly recommend having Edelgard be that unit, specially if you have her in her Emperor class, and you will want to bring a Sword and Gauntlet user, and you can bring a Lance user as some Assassins do show up as reinforcements.
The first objective is to capture the strongholds and advance to the inner ward, and if you chose Wall-Mounted Catapults, you can activate them to attack the enemy, and some reinforcements will show up, you can defeat them if you want. Then some Walls of Darkness appear, so we have to take down the Dark Mages in order to remove them, you can capture the ballista strongholds so that enemies don't keep attacking your units.
After removing the Walls of Darkness, Kronya makes another appearance, and we haven't seen her ever since we rescued Monica back in Chapter 2, and Monica does have dialogue when you have her fight Kronya. She does bring some allies along with her known as Dolofonos, the assassins of Those Who Slither in the Dark. They will activate the Viskam, which has long range and can attack your units, much like a ballista, and it is time to bring the unit separated from the rest of the group to action, and time to put the Infiltration Strategy to use to try and turn off the Viskam. As the enemies on that side are Cavaliers, if you chose Edelgard, she can take out the Cavaliers while advancing to the control system to disable the Viskam.
After defeating Dolofonos and the assassins, the next task is to fight Kronya, and defeating her will allow your units to reunite with your detached unit. Then we take on Viscounts Fenja and Menja, but we then get help from Count Hevring. Viscount Fenja is a Falcon Knight, and Viscount Menja is a Dark Bishop, use the weapon advantage to defeat them, and then it is time to take on the Former Duke Aegir, and there are some Dark Knight reinforcements that show up, and about the fire orbs, Count Hevring comes to back up your units.
Once the viscounts are down, some reinforcements will appear and try and advance to Duke Aegir, you can have Shez warp to the strongholds that are near to the reinforcements and defeat them, and as for Duke Aegir, he is a Great Knight, and he does have dialogue with Edelgard and Ferdinand when you have them fight him.
After defeating Duke Aegir, we get a cutscene where Ferdinand finishes off his father, and then we go through a lot of dialogue, including one where Shez doesn't learn much about Kronya and the others, and some of the dialogue is different if Byleth was not recruited.
The chest contains a Kadmos Shield, this shield protects the user from bonus damage against armored units, a very good weapon on any Great Knight you have, and the S Rank reward is The Inexhaustible, a Sacred Weapon tied to the Crest of Indech, and this is a great weapon to equip on Bernadetta, and when its effect is unleashed, it reduces the cooldown of Combat Arts by 50%, and unlike in Three Houses where it interferes with Bernadetta's Personal Ability where she deals more damage if she has taken damage, and when you combine Armsthrift with her Crest, it allows her to fire off Combat Arts as her Crest has a chance of a Combat Art being ready to use immediately after it is used.
