I needed some cavalry for Dragon Rampant, and at the time the local store had sold out of al their Perry kits. I remembered Fireforge had released these figures in the time since I'd last built any of their cavalry, so I figured I'd give them a try.
I like that this kit straddles the line between fantasy and historical ever so carefully. While the basic frame is based on the other mounted warrior kits that Fireforge makes, the helmets and pauldrons carry a much more exaggerated fantasy style with them.
One of my main gripes with this kit is the same I've had with the other Fireforge mounted models (not that I've ever posted about them before)- the arms with the shields tend to be much too close to the body, resulting in some of the poses looking a bit awkward (as well as making some difficult to paint spots).
There's a fun assortment of hand weapons that work quite well with Fireforge's on foot kits, such as their Teutonic and Templar figures, and who doesn't like a massive spiked flail to swing around at your opponents?

You can find them on Fireforge's website, along with their Forgotten World fantasy kits, and hopefully their Byzantines soon as wel!
