2Thanks to the team who made such a nice game. Also many thanks for the person who fixed this for stereoscopic gaming and VR, DarkStarSword. And the team at HelixVision who made this possible. Many years and a lot of these people's heart went into this. Unfortunately nVidia stopped supporting this tech. So there are some steps to follow to make this work. Also some bugs that still needs to be lived with.
A full VR remaster with head tracking would have been the ultimate! But in the mean time this experience is just as good and would recommend it to any one who is passionate about virtual reality or stereoscopic gaming.
The best way to watch this is in Virtual Desktop which you could find in steam. The best settings is to have the screen size at around 60ยฐ, about 6meters away and a curvature of about 80ยฐ. Each to his own.
The settings inside the game is also all about personal preference. There are many parameters that needs to be tweaked to your own taste. You dont want to go above your IPD, distance between your pupils. And you could pull the convergence past the screen normal. Which means you can make things pop out of the screen towards you. This is a bit tricky because it has to be less than your IPD and its perspective. In the beginning of the video i did just that so you will notice less eye strain when I push the map and compass a bit inward. The problem with this is that the scene and your "in game body" are tied together in the separation and convergence. Which makes it a bit harder to achieve room scale. If you can live with some compromise you would really love this. Then on the other hand you can change the virtual screen size, curvature and position that Katanga offers. So there are at least 5 things which you need to keep in mind! For a more comfortable and immersive experience I would recommend aligning the middle of the big screen with your head
