I've been looking forward to this game for a long time. It's one of those games I knew of, but never played, and then after playing Bioshock I wondered if there was some connection between the games, based purely on the fact that "shock" was part of the name. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that while there's no canonical connection, there most certainly is a spirtual one. Developed by the same studio, and all.

But I still never got around to playing it. And then I played Bioshock: Infinite and it sort of reinforced that I should check out System Shock some day.

And what better time than a Halloween / horror themed video game marathon?

I did make the mistake of not really fully paying attention when setting up my character, so my first order of business when I start playing properly is going to be starting over from the beginning. When I started, my character was loaded up on psionics (which, thinking back, was probably because I was in the psionics virtual training area when I looked at my stats) so I thought that was the order of business to try out. But then when you get into the game proper you're dropped in with basically nothing, and I was floundering around with a wrench and nothing else. No ranged attack, no way to perform any psionics, no way to hack any of the doors/keypads... so yeah, definitely need to call a mulligan on that and start over.
