First Impressions of the Brand New WARHAMMER VR Game // Age of Sigmar Tempestfall VR Gameplay
0The Warhammer IP is no stranger to the VR market, Battle Sister VR launched onto the Oculus Quest and Quest 2 platforms last year and now a brand new follow up VR game has landed in our laps, Warhammer Age of Sigmar Tempestfall (quite the mouthful I know). Age of Sigmar VR is out now for PC VR users, and coming in 2022 to the Oculus Quest platform, and I was lucky enough to go hands on with an early preview build to capture and share some first impressions and VR gameplay. Those who have spent any time with Hellsweeper or Everslaught will immediately find similarities here as Warhammer Age of Sigmar Tempestfall equips players with three different melee weapons and a handful of magic based attacks and then sets them free to cleave their way through waves of skeletons and undead foes in a gorgeous fantasy world...
I've spent around 2 hours so far with the game in a pre-release state and this video acts as a pure first impressions piece rather than a review. During my time spent with Warhammer Age of Sigmar VR I found myself split between being thoroughly impressed and a little bit disappointed, the game does many things exceptionally well; the environments look fantastic, as do character models, the voice acting is strong and combat does feel rewarding at first. However it also suffers from quite a few missteps in the early sections; after a few waves of enemies combat is exposed to be quite simplistic, enemies seem happy to stand back and await death, the parry is oddly unresponsive andI could not locate a health gauge or map during my time playing etc... There does seem to be some decent depth to the game with a simple weapon upgrade mechanic, crafting items that need to be found & lore scattered throughout the world and other such features breaking up the hack and slash formula but I certainly need to spend more time with this one before making a final verdict.
