First Person Platformer w/some Alchemy Flavor - Project Grove Prologue (2021-09-26)
0I received a key for this via Keymailer, though considering the prologue is available for free on Steam, I think either that was just a requirement to offer the game on keymailer for me to try, or maybe it would have let me play the prologue a little earlier than the public release (I was a bit late, especially as the earlier version of the prologue doesn't provide the ability to invert the mouse Y axis).
It definitely wasn’t what I expected - I was hoping that the alchemy aspect of the game would be more thoroughly integrated into the game instead of basically a small event that grants the player some additional platforming ability. I think I would've been more interested in it being a regular part of the game / perhaps you're experimenting more with more-frequently-gathered ingredients and having the abilities be part of a stock of one-off alchemy potions/spells.
As a first-person puzzle platformer, it certainly works, and there’s some cool stuff like using L-P1N (the robot companion) to hold onto/drop keys into Duet Plants. Overall it’s not one of my favored genres, so despite being a solid start, I think I probably won’t be looking to play the full game.
