(First play through) Duke Nukem 3d (part 1) | 3d Realms / Form Gen | MS-DOS | 1996
I'd started the 20th Anniversary Edition just before finding a version of the original game I could buy, so I ditched that in order to start this. I'm using the Roland SC-55 music pack supplied by Brandon Blume (https://sc55.duke4.net/games.php#duke3d) and the eDuke32 source port.
In this video, I'm still very much getting to grips with the level design and associated language for progression and secrets. Obviously, the Build engine is wildly different from the idTech engine I've gotten to know and love through recent DOOM streams, so I'm learning as I go the capabilities of the game and how level design is affected.
I'm going in with the "Come Get Some" difficulty - I'll say that this was probably the right level to pitch it at for me - the combat isn't really too difficult, save for a few moments later on. But of course, I don't want to have to deal with respawning enemies that come with "Damn, I'm Good".
