Here's a very old fangame that has largely been forgotten. Five Golden Nights at Freddy's is a three-game strong FNaF series with two instalments releasing pre-Sister Location, and the last releasing about a year ago now, and I can safely say, this first game has not aged well in the slightest. So, with that, welcome to Five Golden Nights at Freddy's.

This game is very reminiscent of those early FNaF fan games - with little original assets, with just enough changed in order to really seem unique. This game has only a handful of enemies and a few mechanics to ensure we survive. We'll start with the characters - we have Golden Freddy, Springtrap, the Puppet, Phantom Balloon Boy, Phantom Mangle, Phantom Chica, and another character who I couldn't completely see (though I think it's Bonnie). Golden Freddy, Springtrap, and the other character are all dealt with by putting on the mask, with the rest requiring us to spam click on them in order to get rid of them. Springtrap, the Puppet, and the Phantoms are all very aggressive - you'll see them like 20 times a night. Golden Freddy isn't quick at all - which is pretty bad as you'll have to keep the mask on the entire time he's walking by - which can get you killed by BB or the Puppet. Mangle plays her FNaF 3 Radio sound when she's in the office, and given how much she appears, it becomes really annoying pretty quickly - I took off my headphones towards the end of Night 4 as I just cba with the noise. There isn't much to say about the characters - mechanics are pretty basic, with the premise of the game just turns into Cookie Clicker whilst occasionally putting on the mask, and the models (minus maybe that Bonnie-looking one) are just ripped from FNaF 2 and 3. Overall though, it's alright.

Now onto the actual office mechanics, which are overall more unique than the character mechanics. The mask is back with no real changes. The cameras, however, are completely unique - this game was the first to have more of a radar system compared to a traditional camera system. Golden Freddy, Springtrap, the Bonnie-looking thing (on Night 3 only), and the Puppet (on Night 1 only) all show up on this radar, and you can tell exactly where they are and when they begin to make their way into the office hallway. This system is in all 3 FGNaF games, and I think it is what makes this game so different than other fan games. Being able to tell in real-time exactly when someone is moving was unheard of when this game was released, and I think it does make the gameplay very interesting. I would still prefer a camera system if I'm honest though, as you are just kinda stuck staring at the wall infront of you for the entire night, but a changeup is always nice.

This game does have minigames, which are fine for the most part. They're both set in the location we're in, and whilst the first one is an escape game, the second one made no sense to me at all. You had to leave the establishment into the black void, and instead of going to that weird Bonnie-thing that was clearly placed there for a reason, you go to the cake below that is so easy to miss.

Overall, like Five Decaying Nights, this game definitely hasn't aged well. The era of just taking official assets (along with other assets in this game's case too) and making 1 or 2 things different definitely has long-passed us, with all games from that era only really having the nostalgic factor carrying it in some way - which is the case with me and this game. The only thing I would say is pretty solid about this game is the unique radar system - and I'm glad that future games would also keep it as it definitely is something special to this series. Whilst this one isn't that great to revisit, I can say that FGNaF 2 and 3 are much better, with new assets, more characters, and more of a challenge in order to put our skills to the test. Regardless though, it was a trip down memory lane whilst revisiting this classic game, and I hope you all enjoyed.
