This is a piece I wrote using various inspirations. One of them is the idea of maintaining a strong tie to the tonic via a pedal tone, songs sung over a drone that appear in music in various cultures, and evoking a strong sensation as with the other preludes in this set.

I'm apprehensive to say this is in c# minor, given that I use many non diatonic tones as well as make extensive use of various octatonic scales, but I partially maintain a sense of key via the strong tie to the note C♯ and the preference of notes that tend to appear in c♯ minor rather than one of the other keys or modes. If I decide that it's a bit too ridiculous to say this is in c♯ minor, I will likely recategorize it.

As the title suggests, the piece is meant to evoke a mental image of flames bursting out in great red flashes and gradually engulfing your field of view as they swell and brighten. Notice the musical representations of small bursts of flames, popping up sporadically but eventually growing and multiplying, with small flickers giving way to intense blaze. I wanted the heat of the fire to be conveyed through the implication of harmonies and harsh dissonances combined with the use of octaves on the pedal tone. I also wanted to go a bit beyond what I normally do with the visuals as a small experiment. I figured if I could enhance the sensation of heat, flashes, and floating embers, I would attempt it through the various lighting effects I've added to the video. I am not well-versed in video effects like this, so it's very rudimentary and likely somewhat shoddy, but I think the simplicity of it adds to the effect.
