0It's finally here! The sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest!
This was easily one of my favorite platform titles back in 2015-2016, and one of those rare games I actually finished back then.
Ori ATBF had an incredibly touching story, and even just the intro had me choking back tears, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what they have done with this second installment.
One thing I can say though is that the visuals have been greatly improved! This game just looks amazing! Beautifully handcrafted background scenery, and a musical score that could make a stone weep. GORGEOUS!
Now, let's see if Oris and Kus wings are strong enough to carry this game off the ground.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a platform-adventure Metroidvania video game developed by Moon Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios exclusively for Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It is a direct sequel to the 2015 title Ori and the Blind Forest announced during E3 2017, and was released on March 11, 2020. The game is a 4K UHD, Xbox One X Enhanced and Xbox Play Anywhere title.
Players assume control of Ori, a white guardian spirit. To progress in the game, players are tasked to move between platforms and solve puzzles. The game world unfolds to the player in the form of a Metroidvania, with new movement abilities allowing the player to access previously inaccessible areas. Unlike The Blind Forest, however, Will of the Wisps relies on autosaving rather than manually placed soul links, and the sequential upgrade system of the first title has been abandoned for a shard system more akin to charms in Hollow Knight. Some of the foundational gameplay elements were inspired by the Rayman and Metroid franchises.
The game's story is centered on a new adventure to discover the world beyond the forest of Nibel, uncover the truths of the lost ones, and unearth Ori's true destiny.

This means my main screen has a different aspect ratio from the most common 16:9 "widescreens" that laptops and desktops use, and my videos therefore have the movie-type black bars top and bottom if you are viewing it on a 16:9.
