Another video of Flight Simulator, this time in green screen. Green phosphor displays were cheaper, sharper, and easier on the eye in the 1980s. It was ideal for working with spreadsheets or text editors for longer durations. The main drawback was the monochrome color and the ghosting of the image.

PCem emulates the feeling of the green screen pretty well. For 3D games this kind of screen is clearly not suitable 2D games are only barely playable. It is important to emphasize that these were not trash monitors. These monitors were designed for extended periods of reading and they excelled in that at the time.
