Flying Tigers: Shadow Over China - Mission 8 - Over The Hump
The Himalayas, Burma -- May 25, 1942
Over The Hump
The collapse of our resistance in Lashio has cut off the Burma Road entirely and the supply route to China is now removed. American planes have begun carrying military supplies via the Assam-Burma-China airlift over the Himalayas. It is a difficult ferry, but our last hope of keeping China in the war until Allied military powers are reinforced.
Weather and mountains are the pronciple trasport headaches, but the A-B-C Ferry Command also reports of Japanese fighters based at Myitkyina, posing another threat to the defenseless cargo planes.
The Chinese Army expects timely delivery of weapons, medical supplies, food, and clothing. The RAF and AVG are to swipe the lower Hump area for enemy activity and provide escort for a group of cargo aircraft in the immediate.
