Freemium, the basic concept of Forge of Empires

The basic concept of all InnoGames products is Freemium or Free-to-Play. It is absolutely free to play. But this also includes pay to win. Related to Forge of Empires this means: If you want to be number 1 in your world, you should not only have started early. You also should be willing to invest a lot of money.

Forge of Empires is the most successful product of InnoGames. It is remarkable that you can do absolutely everything without spending money. It is not disturbing much if your neighbor invests much. You can play Forge of Empires permanently without using real money enjoying all parts of the game. But you should be patient.

This is not self-evident as many other game vendors only allow to take a sneak peek into the game for free. If you then really want to play you have to use real money. In Forge of Empires fortunately this is solved much better. Nobody can be destroyed completely over night by a neighbor who developed much faster.

The German online magazine 'Games Wirtschaft' reports, that InnoGames was able to increase their revenues from 131 million Euros in 2016 to 161 million Euros in 2017. This is a fat increase of 24%. InnoGames emphasizes that mobile apps are growing fastest. But the main contributor to revenues are desktop browser games. And the company's most profitable game is Forge of Empires with revenues of 200 million Euros since 2012.

The number of DAUs, the daily active users, grew as well as the total time players spent in the games. This is good news for InnoGame's main investor, the Swedish MTG, Modern Times Group.

The German magazine Handelsblatt then makes it even more concrete. Using very focussed advertising many new players could be attracted, especially in InnoGame's most important market, the USA. By a special design of the Forge Bowl event players could be motivated to spend more money. InnoGames succeeded for the first time to have revenues of more than 1 million Euros on a single day with the core product Forge of Empires.

Relating to 'Games Wirtschaft' in Forge of Empires nearly every 10th player spends money for in game purchases. In average a money spending user invests 60 Euros per month. This value even was a surprise to me.

I am not haunting players who invest their money. They pay the game development to everybody's advantage. But in my videos I avoid to give simple advice that only can be followed by using a lot of money. Contrary: Especially in the just started carnival event high possible rewards motivate a lot to use diamonds for more tickets. In my video I showed a way to better resist that temptation and still be successful. And this is the way I want to continue with my videos in this channel.
