Rewind 2018 in Forge of Empires

A lot happened in Forge of Empires during the year 2018. Some changes will change the game permanently like the migration from Flash to HML5, the 6th and final part of the Oceanic Future, the start of the Virtual Future and the very desired reconstruction mode.

More than that we all remember of the many events and historical quest lines.

When the year started, many players were thinking whether or not many tiny event buildings make sense as offered with the winter event 2017, and how to arrange them best. In the end not many winter villages survived in the player worlds.

Short time after that we were all surprised by the Forge Bowl event. It's grand prize, the Pillar of Heroes for the first time provided 3 fps every day on the tiny footprint of 3x3 tiles.

The Carnival Event started in this game when carnival already ended in real life. While the change of events and historical questlines seemed to be planned perfectly in previous years, it appeared a bit chaotic in 2018. Possibly these were side effects of the HTML5 migration which were quite successful. But surely consumed a lot of development resources and made testing more difficult.

The first historical questline then was dedicated to Napoleon. Since then he rides through many player towns. This also was a new element.

The spring event provided a second level to already existing event buildings from the previous year. As most players need to use the building space very efficiently, this was very welcome.

Then we had several historical questlines in a row: Cleopatra, Vincent van Gogh and Sacajawea.

The Forge of Empires Soccer event completed the first half of the year. The event's grand prize initially was available only to those who were willing to use diamonds. As a result of the massive player feedback InnoGames then offered the necessary upgrade kits as daily specials. All remaining events in 2018 were then designed in way that active players could achieve the best version of the grand prize without diamonds. InnoGames learned how to make players happy.

Forge Island was the theme of the summer event. Everybody was fascinated of these Ships. For the very first time you could decide between 3 different versions of the final grand prize. Some were addicted of these ships, but even normal players were able to have 1.5 without using diamonds.

In the fall event we then had to bake and with the Mill of Fall we again had the possibility to chose the best prize. Everybody liked that.

With Genghis Khan we then got another historical questline.

In 2018 we again got a Halloween event. It reminded of many elements that we already knew from previous years.

The winter event is still ongoing and from what I can see, we all like it a lot.

The event buildings which had been introduced in 2018 are much better than everything we had before. Exceptional are
Pillar of heroes
Tholos of Idols
The Ships
The Fall Mills
Winter Spire

Which of these do you like most? On the supported platforms you will be able to give your vote. I am very eager to see your favorite and you can also use the comments below the video.
