On January 3, 2019, the first Cultural Settlement was launched with the Vikings. Since then, this has been an optional theme that players can play on the side in Forge of Empires to earn outstanding rewards for the actual city by developing an additional, temporary settlement.
The second cultural settlement, Feudal Japan, was added on June 10, 2019. Of course, only one Cultural Settlement can be played at a time.
On March 18, 2020, the Egyptians were added and Queen Nefertiti was to be helped. Each new settlement varied the rules slightly to add more than just visual variety.
The Aztecs were then added on November 9, 2020.
The Mughal Empire began on August 11, 2021. It was the winner of a competition from many player suggestions.
After that, it lasted until March 27, 2024, when the last Cultural Settlement to date was added and the theme was simply renamed Settlement.
For all settlements, you should be able to log in briefly every five to ten hours for the duration of the settlement. It helps to set your smartphone alarm clock so that you don't lose any time. The trick is not to lose the thread due to these forced interruptions.
Participation in the individual Cultural Settlements is linked to certain requirements. For example, you must have developed at least the technology of plowing, one of the last technologies of the Iron Age, in order to have access to the Cultural Settlements at all. Some settlements may be linked to additional requirements:
Aztecs: Colonies (Colonial Age)
Mughal Empire: Higher education (Late Middle Ages)
Polynesia: Signage (High Middle Ages)
The rewards mentioned are in addition to quest rewards and milestones:
- 1 reward building for completing the settlement
- Fragments for a reward building for the quick completion of the settlement
- Ambassadors who deliver extra bonuses at the city hall
You will initially only receive the reward building in a very rudimentary form and you can then upgrade it to the highest level by repeating the settlement several times. Whether it's Yggdrasil, Shinto Temple, Royal Bathhouse, Sun Temple, Mogul Temple or Lodge of Sacred Instruments: The reward buildings are a permanent upgrade for your city.
In 2024, these rewards were further improved and there have been various changes to the existing Cultural Settlements in recent years. Therefore, there will be a current video for each settlement in this channel at monthly intervals, which should enable players to follow the steps contained therein and thus successfully complete the settlement.
