Winter Event 2017 in Forge of Empires

This year the winter event starts at November 30th and will end on January 4th. Most is just like last year. You collect winter stars, mainly by solving quests, then you trade them for random presents. Every day there is a different main reward. Of course there is Santa's Workshop again. More interesting are the new buildings of the winter village set.

Every day you receive 10 winter stars by simply clicking frosty. It is worth to log in every single day at least to fetch these 10 stars. Afterwards you get a new quest and there is only one quest every day. You cannot do future quests to compensate a possible absense, e g during christmas holidays. But you still can solve these quests until January 4th. Nothing gets lost in case you cannot solve a quest the same day.

I am not planning to explain each quest in detail. You will find them in the first comment below the video. Only some quests I want to mention:

Already quest 10 request to develop a new technology or to give 300 good to your guild instead. To help you with your decision, which option might be better, I want to reveal that with quest 19 and quest 27 you again are asked to develop a new technology. In quest 19 you can spend 70 forge points to great buildings instead. In quest 27 you already have to give 500 goods to your guild if you don't want to develop a technology. Those who possibly only have a single technology left, should calculate very good, where it is used best.

Quest 11 requires to build two residential buildings of the current or three of the previous era. A look into the inventory can help. Often you find houses or event building counting as a residential building there. If it has the right era attached, you can use the Haunted House from the Halloween Event. You can demolish it again right after.

In quest 24 you have to complete many productions. It can be helpful to build some blacksmith for this. Unfortunately this does not help in quest 26.

After quest 20 required to conquer three sectors, quest 25 now asks you to control a province. Unfortunately no alternative is offered here.

I recommend to wait before you trade in your winter stars. Collect them and use them when a building from the winter village set is offered as daily price. These new buildings only make sense if you own many of them as they should be built next to each other.

As some buildings possibly might not be offered a second time, it is a good idea to use the first opportunity. You can buy a missed building for diamonds the next day. But this is more expensive than just buying more winter stars to open more presents.

Building the winter village is a bit tricky. Only three buildings require to be connected to a street. Some buildings need 3 neighbors from the set, others four. This is nearly impossible without using those buildings with only 1 field size. And these are the rewards for the fifth and 34th quest. They have to be placed next to each other as otherwise they would not have 4 neighbors. It takes a few thoughts to place the buildings in the best way.

The winter event will make fun and everybody wants to have the new winter village set.
