Former 'Guardian' Editor Alan Rusbridger on the New Rules for Journalism in the 21st Century
Disinformation is on the rise and faith in governments and public institutions is faltering. Meanwhile, professional journalism is far from being the public’s sole source of trustworthy information, and as we saw from the number of amateur and student reporters on the ground during the Hong Kong protests, the definition of who is a journalist is no longer clear cut. What’s to be done about it? Relying on his decades of experience as a journalist, including 20 years as editor of 'The Guardian,' Alan Rusbridger has written an A-to-Z glossary for this unsettling age, offering a user’s guide for how to stay informed and distinguish fact from fiction. In this Zoom event, he’ll discuss topics including fake news, dysfunctioning democracies, and how journalists can reestablish trust and autority in these challenging times. Moderated by FCC first vice president Eric Wishart.
