First, you will need to update your OS to the latest macOS High Sierra 10.13 version. You can download and install it from the app store.

When this is done, open up the "About This Mac" window.
If your mac is from 2012 or older then unfortunately you will not be able to play the game, at least at the moment.

If that's not the case then open up your epic games launcher and logout.
Open up the first link from the description and make a new account.

I know this seems strange as a new account has nothing to do with your peripherals but this worked surprisingly good for other people with the same issue.

After making a new epic games account and login in to the launcher, run fortnite and open up your video settings.

Change your window mode to windowed and apply the changes. Now try to join a game.

If you still can't join a game then there are only 2 options left if you REALLY want to play fortnite on your mac.

First, and this is the easiest; you can sign up to geforce now, which is a cloud gaming service from nvidia.
You can rent a GPU which will do all of the video processing for a monthly fee. I guess there is a free trial if you want to try it out.
This will use up as much resources as a netflix stream for example.

Your second option would be to install windows on your mac and install fortnite on the other operating system.

If you consider this then keep in mind that there is still no guarantee that fortnite works as you could be limited to your available RAM.

If you have less than 4 GB of RAM then this might be why Fortnite won't load your map.
