This is what it looks like when the server running the storm shield is clearly cpu/memory bound or the equivalent of having a stroke.
Latency increases not because our internet connections are trash, it's literally because the server is struggling to run. If it was purely a latency issue that internet related, the husks and everything would proceed in realtime, but it's clearly failing to do so, taking eons to complete some of the waves.
This is CLEARLY a problem on epic's end, something that needs to be resolved.
I've personally been unable to complete my twine endurance having given up ages ago due to the server freezing up at about the 14-18 wave or just into the 20's for wave counts. It's beyond annoying when you've pushing a good endurance, and then all the husks freeze, character freezes, no network connection to the server, and no matter what you do, you can "rejoin" because by the time you can, the server has already considered you having left, and wastes ALL your time as it doesn't even register that you had done any waves at all.
I've reported the problem to epic many times, but this specific event, i wasn't aware of, until they wanted me to watch what happens.
the first wave didn't seem to affect anything but i wasn't really doing anything, none of us were. Then the 2nd wave came... and almost instantly things went south.
