Fowl Play | 1983 | A MS-DOS clone of Frogger | Shortplay 4k Monochrome CRT Simulation
Shortplay of the game Fowl Play, the MS-DOS game by Mops Computer Systems Inc.
GAME INFO:
Fowl Play is a little-known MS-DOS game that was produced and released in 1983 by Mops Computer Systems Inc. Like several games produced for PC at the same time, this is a clone of another famous game of the time, in the case of Fowl Play the inspiration came from the classic Frogger.
To simulate the characteristics of the sounds of PCs at the time, which were emitted by an Internal Speaker, I inserted a Reverb filter in the audio output of the game. And to contribute to a greater sense of nostalgia, I inserted something that was very characteristic to be heard in silent rooms where games were played: the sound of keys being pressed.
GAME RECORDING INFO:
The game was emulated at Retroarch, using DOSBOX core. It was integer scaled to 4k, without bi-linear filtering, and retaining the original aspect ratio (display aspect ratio, not internal resolution). And captured using shader / filter that simulates the image of a CRT monitor screen. I also use a bezel above the game, a 3D scenario with a PC, to create a nostalgic atmosphere.
